Harvest Tennis Academy trainee Hardeed Singh wins u-18 boys' title at fenesta Open

Jassowal, Jagraon: Third seeded player Hardeep Singh Sandhu of village Jassowal-Kular and a trainee of Harvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal is the National Champion in the boys’ under-18 singles by winning his maiden national title.

Playing some beautiful arrays of shots, eighteen-year-old Hardeep Sandhu outsmarted the favourite Mukund Sashikumar 7-6 (3), 6-4, of Tamil Nadu in under two hours in the final of the Fenesta Open Tennis NATIONAL Championship 2013 at the RK Khanna Tennis Stadium, New Delhi today.

On Friday, in the semifinals, Hardeep Sandhu outplayed his fellow trainee from Harvest Academy, Udayan Bhakar who had enjoyed a dream run beating the top-seeded Shaik Abdullah and the talented Nikki Poonacha.

“I came to the tournament with no expectations and cannot believe the national trophy is in mine hands” said Hardeep Sandhu after the final.

“Well done my village boy!!” said his Australian coach Todd Clark (Director Coaching) at Harvest Tennis Academy, Jassowal Ludhiana. Hardeep Sandhu still needs to work on his game. “He is still improving, but still needs to work on several aspects on his game,” Clark added.

In semifinals stage, Harvest Academy stole the show as three of its players played the semifinals Hardeep Singh Sandhu, Udayan Bhakar and Dalwinder Singh. Of course in Women’s, Shweta Rana, led the way in projecting a positive image of the academy situated in Ludhiana. Shweta Rana lost in the women’s singles. Shweta won the Women’s Doubles title in partnership with Rushmi Chakravarthi.
