Chandigarh: Mohun Bagan Football Academy edged past Thou Academy Manipur by the margin of 3-1 in the opening match of 11th Administrators Challange Cup All India football tournament kicked off on Sunday at Chandigarh.
Both the teams were equally balanced and exhibited brillent football right from the word go. Mohun bagan lads were having edge over and framed good moves by using accurate short passes. On the other side physically stout boys from Manipur gave a tough challange to the mohun bagan lads at several occaccions of the game. Jerry pulamte of Mohun Bagan opened the account for his team in the 7th minute of play and scored first goal for his team through a powerfull low drive from the top of the box.
After scoring the first goal Bagan lads increased the pace of the game and succeeded in scoring the seconed goal in the 11th minute of play. C. Lal Remruta scored the goal through a brilliant header off a cross from the left flank. After conceding two early goals Manipur lads adopted cautious approach and mounted pressure in resultant they were able to reduce margin in the 22nd minute of play Ng Jiten scored for Manipur. At the half time Mohun Bagan lads were leading by 2-1
On the resumption of play Mohun Bagan team confined the play in the mid field and suddenly made it fast and Fimrong Sinson scored the third goal for Mohun Bagan in the 52nd minute of play. Kh.Vicky and A.Khandaton of Thau Academy Manipur were cautioned by the referee and shown yellow card for their involvement in rough play during the game.
In the other match of the day Army Boys Company Patna thrashed F.C.C Assam by the huge margin of 16 goals to nil. The Assam team played with seven players as 11 of their players were found over age and not allowed to play. Lakhai Besra scored five goals for his team in the 2nd, 12th, 18th, and 22nd minute and 87th minute of play, Sunit Thapa scored 4 goals in 37th, 40th, and 49th,61st minute of play, Saroj Rai scored in 3rd and 25th minute of play, N.Tapas Singh scored in 7th and15th minute of play, Praful anish scored in 39th minute of play.Rikchen Thamang score in the 81st minute of play. Assam team concede own goal in the 73 rd minute of play.
Earlier K.K.Sharma IAS Advisor to Administrator Chandigarh inaugurated the tournament at Sector 17 football Stadium.Sh.V.K.Singh IAS Secretary Finance and Sports, Sh.Sunil Bhatia PCS, Director Sports ,Dr. J.P.S. Sidhu Joint Director Sports and Sh. K.S. Bharti Distt.Sports Officer were present.The march past of participating teams was held at the venue.
