New Delhi: Indian Wushu players won one silver and five bronze medals and made India proud during 7th Asian Junior Championship which was held at Makati Collesium, at Manila, Philippines from August 6 to 13, 2013.
Mahipal Singh (75 KG) lost in finals against Iran and won the silver medal. Neha Kashyap (48KG) lost in quarter final against World Champion Chinese player and won bronze medal. Meanwhile, Kiwlani Brhma (56KG) and Naveen jatin (80 KG) also won bronze medals.
In Taolu Chanquan Individual category Jyoti Kumari and Nanquan Taolu T. Arita Devi won Bronze medal.
In this prestigious and important championship, 22 countries including Iran, China, Kazakhstan participated in Sanshou and Taolu Event of Wushu, the popular martial game.
A grand welcome was arranged by the Wushu Association of India upon their arrival at the Airport and the players and officials met with the DG SAI JIJI Thomson at the SAI complex. He heartily welcomed the players and appraised Wushu Association of India and its coaches for their tireless efforts behind this success.
During this meeting-cum-welcome programme Rajendra Singh, Director (Teams), SAI, P. C. Kashyap, E D, SAI, Sanjay Saraswat, R. K. Naidu, Manish Kacker, General Secretary, WAI, Suhel Ahmed, Treasurer, WAI, and the coaches L. Pradeep Kumar Singh, Abhilash Saxena and Sarika Manoj Gupta were also present.
DG SAI assured the players and officials about all kind of support from SAI.
