Sub-Jr. Wrestling Championships from June 27

Kanyakumari: The 32nd Boys Free Style, Greco Roman Style and 16th Girls Sub-Junior [Cadet] National Wrestling Championship is being organized by the Tamilnadu State Amateur Wrestling Association under the aegis of Wrestling Federation of India [WFI] at St. Antony School Grouand, Kanyakumari [Tamilnadu] from 27th to 30th June 2013.

The Championship will held in Boys Free Style, Boys Greco Roman Style and Girls Free Style Wrestling. The weight categories are 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 63, 69, 76, 85, 100 Kg. for Boys Free Style & Greco Roman Style and the Girls weight categories are 38, 40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 56, 60, 65, 70 Kg. About 600 Wrestlers and 300 Coaches/Managers/Technical Officials from 27 affiliated State / UT Wrestling Associations & SSCB of Wrestling Federation of India are participating in this Championship.

Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, MP, President, Wrestling Federation of India will inaugurate the Championship on 28th June 2013 at 3.00 p.m. The wrestlers who will win gold, silver and bronze will be selected for the participation in the National Coaching Camp which will be held from 8th July 2013.

In between the camp, the selection trials will be conducted and the selected wrestlers will take part in the 2013 Asian Cadet Free Style, Greco Roman Style and Female Wrestling Championship to be held at Ulaanbaatar [Mongolia] from 25th to 28th July 2013.

The Indian Junior Free Style wrestling team won the championship trophy in recently concluded 2013 Asian Junior Wrestling Championship by winning 3 gold, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals. The female wrestling team was runners up by winning 2 silver and 3 bronze medals and the Greco Roman Style Team was 5th by winning 1 silver and 4 bronze medals
