Dr KL Garg Memorial National Junior U-19 Chess Championship from July 10

Lucknow: Dr KL Garg Memorial National Junior U-19 Chess Championship -2013 will commence at Bora institute of Management Science, near Sewa Hospital Campus, NH – 24, Sitapur Road, Lucknow from July 10 to July 18.

Last year, top four players in open category in 42nd National Junior U-19 Ches s Championship 2013 & 28th National Junior U-19 Girls Chess Championship, Ajmer were GM Grover Sahaj (Rank 1), GM Narayanan Srinath (2), GM Vidith Santosh Gujarathi (3), IM Debashis Das (4) and in the girls category WFM Pujari Rucha (Rank 1), WFM Saranya J (2), WFM Monnisha GK (3), WGM Padmini Rout (4).

The National championship is being jointly organised by the Lucknow District Chess Academy, Lucknow District Chess Sports Association Under the aegis of U.P. Chess Sports Association on the behalf of All India chess Federation.


“As many as 32 states players from across the country, including seeded Grand masters and champions would be rack their brains in the nine-day National Championship. The tournament carries total prize money of Rs. 2 lakh.” informed Dr. Neeraj Bora, Vice president, U.P chess Sports Association & Chairman Organizing committee during the press conference held on Tuesday at Hotel Gamini Continental, Lucknow.
"We are committed for the successful conduct of the event. It’s an honor for U.P. Chess Sports Association to conduct the National Junior Boys & Girls Championship in Lucknow,” added Dr. Neeraj Bora.
 

“U.P is organizing large number of championships since long time in the comparison of other states. Including this Championship we have Senior Men and Women National Championship, which would be organising very soon in the state.” Said A.K Raizada, Secretary, U.P. Chess Sports Association while talking to the media persons.
