New Delhi: Delhi Soccer Association (DSA ) well - known groundsman & care - taker Chetan Barua ( popularly known as Bahadur in football circle ) passed away this morning following a brief illness at Lok Nayak Jai Parkash Hospital ).
Bahadur , aged 55 years old , is survived by his wife, a son and two married daughters.
Bahadur collapsed five days ago while doing marking and preparing Dr. Ambedkar Stadium in the morning for the on - going summer coaching camp. He was immediately rushed to JLNP Hospital for treatment and was diagonesed having suffered a left - side paralytic attack.
He was associated with DSA , Subroto, Durand, AIFF.s National/International football activities for a long two decades. He was a specialist expert in preparing ground single handling. He was instrumental in making Dr. Ambedkar Stadium// JNS/ CWG /Tyagraj Sports Complex for in perfect conditions for hosting National/I-League, ONGC- Nehru Cup, AFC Challenge Cup, recently concluded ONGC home-away I- League matches.
His funeral may be held on Tuesday after arrival of his brother from his native state Assam.
The All India Football Federation ( AIFF ) vice - president and Delhi Soccer Association (DSA ) president Subhash Chopra, MLA and the managing committeemembers expressed their heart- felt condolences over his un-timely demise and described his death as a great loss to the DSA and missed him immensely for all time to come.
