Mohali: Off spinner Arpit Singh bowled an intelligent and inspiring spell of off spin bowling in which he accounted for 6 Amritsar batsmen for just 53 runs to hustle the Amritsar team out for 163 in span of 64 overs.
Resuming at 64 for 2 Amritsar batsmen could not take the measure of Arpit’s tantalizing spin and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. The only resistance came from Karan Sharma (40), Navneet Singh (53) and Karan Pathal (23).
With this outright win Chandigarh got 6 points while Amritsar got Zero. Chandigarh has now taken their points tally to 21 and are bracketed with Patiala also on 21 point at the end of the fourth round of matches.
Ludhiana-Jalandhar tie ends in a draw
Ludhiana got 3 points for their first innings lead against Jalandhar after their match was drawn at PAU Ludhiana. Ludhiana who were 180 for 8 overnight were bowled out for 223 setting a target of 270 for Jalandhar for an outright win. Jalandhar ended the day with 238 for 9 in 75 overs and garnered one point. Their innings was sustained by Himanshu Sharma 64 off 89 balls inclusive of 8 boundaries and Mansab Gill 58 off 91 balls inclusive of 3 boundaries and three huge sixes. Right arm leg spinner Sandeep Singh bowled almost unchanged from one end sending down 30 overs 5 of which were maiden and captured 6 wicketS for 74 runs with his tantalizing length and turn. However, his heroic effort could not earn an outright win for his team who had to be satisfied with first innings points (3).
