Bangalore: Greenwood International made the best use of their experience on home turf to register their first win in the inter-city leg of the 3rd Mahindra Youth Football Challenge at the Bangalore Football Stadium by beating Delhi Public School from Vasant Kunj, New Delhi 1 – 0. The victory was powered by a goal scored by Varun Nambiar in the 25th minute of the match. Though he did not score a goal, Greenwood player Aryamaan Singh Kunwar was the Star Performer for his impressive performance on the field.
In another match Panjim’s Don Bosco High School trounced Calicut based St. Joseph’s Higher Secondary School 3 – 2 in an exciting encounter. Though Leon Augustine helped the Kerala school launch their attack with an opening goal in the 2nd minute, Panjim struck back in the 10th minute to level scores thanks to Elmer Seaueira’s goal. In the 11th minute, Javed Hassan got St. Joseph’s its second. The exciting encounter then witnessed a goal in the 45th and another in the 48th minute by Star Performer Glevito S Miranda to help seal a convincing victory for Don Bosco Panjim.
The team from Ashoknagar Vidyasagar Banibhaban Kolkata won their second consecutive match by defeating Don Bosco High School from Matunga, Mumbai 1 – 0, thanks to Suman Dutta’s lone but winning goal in the 40th minute. Aaron Koli was named the Star Performer of the match

The Mahindra Youth Football Challenge is the Mahindra Group’s commitment to promote football at the grassroots level. The company has partnered with Scottish football giant Celtic Football Club, who is taking on the responsibility of training and developing young talent identified through the initiative.
