Chandigarh: As many as 234 sportspersons alongwith 24 coaches were felicitated with the cash award by Chandigarh administration here on Tuesday. K.K Sharma, IAS, Adviser to the Administrator, U.T., Chandigarh presided over felicitation function and gave away the awards to the tune of Rs. 43,48,000/- to the sportspersons, who have brought laurels to the city beautiful at National level tournaments / championships in the discipline of Archery, Athletic, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Football, Golf, Gymnastic, Hockey, Handball, Judo, lawn Tennis, Rifle Shooting, Rowing, Sailing / Yachting, Skating, Softball, Swimming, Taekwondo, Table Tennis & Weightlifting.

The award was conferred to first three position holders of National Championships, National School Games and Inter-university competitions.

V.K Singh, Secretary Finance & Sports was also present. The distinguished Guest consisted of Wg. Cdr. Satish Bhatia, Shri Chandershekher, Ex DGP President, Chandigarh Hockey Association, Brig. K.S Chandpuri, President, Chandigarh Athletic Association & Sh. K.K Jairath, President, Chandigarh Boxing Association were also present at the occasion.
