Chandigarh: ONGC, Dehradun beat Indian Army, Delhi by 86-73 in the first match of 1ST All India Invitational Basketball Tournament (Men) being held in Chandigarh from March 8.

At the half time ONGC trailed behind by 36-39. Top scorers for the winning were Trideep Rai-31, Mohit Bhandari-29 and Rajudeen-05 while for the losers, Gopal Ram scored 21 and Dalip Kumar and Yoginder Dhania contributed 10 and 9 points respectively.

In the second match, RCF, Kapurthala beat CRPF, Delhi by 97-67. At the half time scores were 30-15. Top scorers for the winning team were Shabad Khan (33), Bijinder Kumar (25) and Rajan Sharma (11). On the other hand top scorer for the losing team were Mahender Kumar (26), Ashfaq Ahmed (09) and P.C.Rajesh (08).

Earlier V.K. Singh, IAS, Secretary Finance and Sports inaugurated the 5 day tournament at Sports Complex, Sector-46, Chandigarh.
