Gurgaon: The duo of Nitin Atroley and Manav Sardana won the Gurgaon leg which formed the ninth event of the Audi quattro Cup 2013 season and qualified for the National final. In the qualifying round held at the DLF Golf and Country Club here on Saturday, Manav and Nitin combined to score 49 stableford points and pipped the duo of Kesar Singh and Rajiv Pasricha by a solitary point. The multi-city event is presented by Audi Finance with Turkish Airlines being the associate partner and Millionnaire Asia being the Official magazine partner with golfingindian.com as the online partner. The event was also supported by Mont Blanc.
The pair of Kesar and Rajiv scored 48 points to finish second. Tushar Arora and Vineesh Kochhar finished third with 44 points. A wild card entry was also picked during the prize presentation where the team of Gurbans Singh and Punit Beriwala have to await the scores of 12 other teams to secure a National final berth.
Hosted by Audi Gurgaon, the one-day event saw Delhi-NCR’s leading corporate czars trying to earn the coveted place in the final. In the various skills competition held alongside the main event, Nikhal Shekhawat won the “Longest Drive” prize on Hole No. 12 and emerged as the proud winner of the Audi Experience where he gets to use a chauffeur-driven Audi A6 on the weekend. Suman Aggarwal won the ‘Straightest Drive” award on Hole No. 5 while Ravi Chopra emerged as the winner in the “Closest to Pin” contest.
The Audi quattro Cup tournament series, established in 1991, has become one of the most celebrated amateur golf tournaments in the world bringing together over 85000 golfers from 54 countries. The Indian circuit of Audi quattro Cup will visit 12 other cities making it a 13-leg series and would touch almost 1300 golfers in all.
Audi Mumbai South will host the next leg at the Willingdon Sports Club in Mumbai on March 15.
