Mumbai: As the second edition of Red Bull College Cricket enters its finale with the National Semi-Finals ending today, it’s an exciting time for Mumbai as Rizvi College beat Delhi’s Kirorimal College at Gangothri Glades, Mysore and ousted them from the tournament!
Rizvi College, Mumbai won the toss and elected to field first. From the very beginning, they made it clear to the onlookers that they were here to win. Right hand bowler Manish Rao dismissed Kirorimal College’s opening batsman Rohit Choudhary in the very first over at just 2 runs. Star bowler Pankaj Jaiswal too made quite an impression on the audience by taking 3 wickets during the game, the first wicket in the second over itself. Despite the loss of two early wickets, Kirorimal College (New Delhi) managed to score 140 runs for the loss of 7 wickets by the end of 20 overs. The majority of the runs were scored by Star Bowler, Prashant Bhandari who remained not out till the very end scoring 75 runs from just 56 balls and hitting 9 fours
The second innings of the match saw Rizvi College (Mumbai) taking to the bat with much ease and scoring the target of 141 runs in just 17.3 overs with 6 wickets in hand at an average run rate of 8.06 runs an over. The star performer for the lions from Mumbai was all-rounder Pankaj Jaiswal who after proving his bowling skills, also showed his excellent batting technique. He remained on the field till the very end scoring 44 runs in 39 balls not out.
