Mumbai: Jhunjhunwala College won the toss and elected to bat first. The pitch was grassy and moist at the start of the day but gradually dried as the match progressed. Opening for Jhunjhunwala college were Jaydeep Pardeshi and Rahul Tondulkar, both got out in the opening overs and thereon the fall of wickets was gradual with Ravi Shinde from R.A Podar taking 2 wickets in the sixth over, including a great catch on the boundary by Rajeev Kamath of Rahul Tondulkar, Sudeep Chavan, then played an explosive knock of 34 runs and took Podar’s score to 117/7 in 20 overs.
R.A Podar college entered the field to bat with a considerably low target, but was put under pressure immediately with a few dot balls and quick wickets in consecutive overs put Podar college in a tight spot with a score of 37/4 at the end of 6 overs. Siddhanth Adhatrao then took over the command scoring slowly, steered Podar’s sinking ship towards victory. Jhunjhunwala’s Jaydeep got a crucial breakthrough in the 15th over with Siddhanth’s wicket. Ravi shinde and Pratik Dhenge from Podar then took control and slowly reduced the pressure by hitting a boundary in every over
Pratik Dhenge got out in the 18th over leaving Podar 10 runs shy of victory with 2 overs to spare. The last pair on field Ravi Shinde and Mitesh Rane then took the team to victory with Mitesh Rane hitting a four with 4 balls to spare.
R.A Podar College will now play the winner of Rizvi College vs Ruparel tomorrow.
