Safai: Two goals each by Shad and Estesham helped favourites Lucknow Hostel enter semi-finals of the State Junior Men Hockey Tournament, defeating Varanasi Rehion by 5-2, at the Chandagiram Astro Turf Stadium here today.

The event is being organised jointly by the UP Sports Directorate and Uttar Pradesh Hockey.

In other three quarterfinals, Lucknow Region outplayed Basti 3-0, Jhansi beat Lucknow Sports College by 2-0, and hosts Saifai Hostel crushed Agra Region 10-1.

Quarterfinals

Lucknow Hostel (Shad 14th, 40th, Ehtesham 24th, 42nd, Uttam Kumar 56th) beat Varanasi Region (Dharamveer 13th and 56th) 5-2.

Lucknow Region (Deepak Yadav 8th, Ankit 40th, Sandeep 55th) beat Basti 3-0.

Jhansi (Shariq 2nd, Izhar Abbasi 45th) beat Lucknow Sports College 2-0.

Safai Hostel (Naval 4th, 29th, 31st, 35th, Ezaz 5th, 12th, Manissh 16th, Ajeet 20th, Kamal 26th, 29th, Mohit 59th) beat Agra Region (Vineet 37th) by 10-1.

Semi-finals fixtures: Lucknow Hostel vs Lucknow Region at 8.30 a.m. Safai Hostel vs Jhansi at 6.30 a.m. Final will be played at 2.00 p.m.
