New Delhi: Sanskiriti School, Chanakya Puri annexed the title after beating Apeejay School, Noida by a solitary goal in the final of the 2nd AR Khan Memorial Inter-School Football tournament held at Ambedkar Stadium here on Monday.
In an exciting encounter, both the teams played a fantastic game throughout but Sanskriti created some brilliant moves upfront which were thwarted by their rivals’ defence. Meanwhile Sankriti’s striker Kshitij Darbari was injured in the game and had to be hospitalised.
The all-important winning goal came in the 28th minute of the initial half and was scored by Dimash.
Delhi Cabinet Minister Rajkumar Chauhan, Haroon Yusuf and Delhi Jal Board vice-chairman Mateen Ahmad distributed the prizes.
Kshitij Darbari of Sanskriti was chosen the player of the tournament.
The best four players of the tournament were Rohan of Appejay (mid-fielder), Kshitij Darbari (forward), Gaurav (goal-keeper) of dr. Zakir Hussain School and Ammar (defender) of st. Xavier’s School.
