Visakhapatnam: National champion Brijraj Verma with Pankaj Kumar, jumped the gun in the first race of the day in the eighth National Hobie 16 sailing championship at the Ramakrishna beach on Thursday, and was docked heavy penalty points.
Verma, representing Indian Navy Watermanship Training Centre, Mumbai had done well in the second race, finishing with only three points, but ended up sixth overall after four races. The pair was docked 25 penalty points.
Samal Pradhan with Rahul Rai as his crew, sixth on the first day, is leading the table with 12 points. The INWTC team had only three penalty points on Thursday.
