Mohali: Bhagminder Singh (132) enabled DAV Senior Secondary School, Sector 8, to defeat St Stephen School by 84 runs in the Coca Cola (U-16) final played at the PCA Stadium, on Sunday.

After winning the toss, DAV skipper, Bhagminder Singh, opened with Pardeep Yadav and put on 37 runs for the first wicket before Pardeep Yadav was run out for 11. DAV lost two quick wickets of Jasnoor 9 and Raman Bishnoi 7 before Bhagminder in company of Vineet Dhaka retrieved the position by building up a partnership of 164 for the 4th wicket in 25.1 overs.

St Stephens scored 208 for 7 in 50 overs. DAV, Chandigarh, won by 84 runs and now they would be traveling to Mumbai as representatives of Punjab to play in the intercity challenge. DAV-8 got Rs 50,000 as cash prize while St Stephen’s got the runners-up trophy and a cash award of Rs 30,000. Bhagminder Singh was declared man of the match while Siddharth Rawat got the man of the series award.
