Arrows thrash FCI

Chennai: Entering the field with just 10 players was a severe embarrassment for Food Corporation of India in its St. Joseph's-CFA senior division league match at the Nehru Stadium on Monday. To add to its woes, FCI was handed a 6-1 thrashing by Arrows.

Nigerian Ndibe Valentine scored a hat-trick. Arrows increased its points tally to 10 from eight while FCI's remained at six from seven.

With nearly half-a-dozen players competing in the KCG Verghese inter-collegiate tournament, FCI had asked for the match to be postponed, but CFA decided against it.

Arrows had the major share of possession and looked like it would score anytime. It duly went 2-1 up thanks to a fine volley by Valentine. Within minutes, Valentine warded off two defenders to come up with a freakish goal.
