Chandigarh: Daniel Lal Limpuia’s five goals, including a hat-trick, enabled the city team to enter the semifinals of 34th Sub-Junior National for Coca Cola Mir Iqbal Hussain Football Trophy at Vasco in Goa.
Ten players from Government Model High School (GMHS), Sector 36, thrashed Tamil Nadu by eight goals to book a berth in the semis. Chandigarh, which led 2-0 at half time, thrived at the brilliant display by Limpuia who pumped in five goals, including three in a row, to demoralise the rivals. Robin Chetri accounted for two goals, while Lalram Zauva of the GMHS scored one.
Chandigarh, with all-win record from three matches from Group "B", is at the top with nine points and was the first team to enter the semifinals. Madhya Pradesh is behind Chandigarh with seven points.
