Besant Nagar Club defeated Madras Gymkhana Club (MGC) 2-1 to win the 20th Sanmar-TNTA veterans above-45 tennis tournament, for the  M.V.G. Appa Rao Rolling Trophy, at the Besant Nagar courts on Wednesday.

In the first one, MGC's Murali Padmanabhan and M.P. Shanker beat Nirmal Kumar and Anand Kathare 6-3, 6-2 . But Besant Nagar rallied through Ranjith Punja and Govind Krishna Kumar, who beat Anand Mohan and Selvam 6-3, 6-4.

The decider saw Dr. Karthik Kailash and Krishna Kumar of Besant Nagar defeat A.G. Krishnan and K. Verghese 6-3, 6-1 to win the trophy.

The chief guests at the event, Sanmar Group Chairman N. Sankar and TNTA President M.A. Alagappan, gave away the trophy and cash awards of Rs. 18,000 to the winner and Rs. 9,000 to the runner-up respectively.
