New Delhi: DAV College, Jalandhar defeated Al-Ameen College, Bangalore 2-1 to win the final of the 19th SAIL Nehru Champion Colleges Hockey Tournament at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here.

DAV team started well and got the opening goal of the match in the fifth minute when Jai Pal Singh’s shot went past the opponent’s goalkeeper. The team from Bangalore came back strong and their continuous penetration resulted in them getting the equalizer in the 17th minute. The score line read 1-1 at the half-time.

After the change of sides, both teams fought hard to get the lead but failed to do so. Manpreet Singh put his team in front again in the 62nd minute and ensured that there was no coming back for the

Al-Ameen College.
The match for the third place saw CRA College, Sonepat defeat Municipal College, Rourkela 5-2.
