I'm a born actor: Vijender

You admired him when he punched his way to glory in the boxing ring. You loved him on the TV shows. You adored him endorsing products. And now get ready to roll your eyes on Vijender Singh on the big screen soon.

His drop-dead looks and chiselled jaws could give country's Bollywood stars and models a run for their money and if reports are to be believed, the Bhiwani boxer could soon be seen paired with Govinda’s daughter Narmmadaa Ahuja in a romantic film to be directed by Lovely Singh.

Though Vijender neither confirmed nor refuted the news, the Olympic bronze medalist said that things would not remain hidden from the public once the ball gets rolling. “As of now, I cannot talk about things which have not yet started. Once things get on track, it will not be hidden from anyone,” said Vijender, stating that he is a born actor and would love to see himself on big screen.

“I was always fascinated by the Bollywood since my childhood and in India who would not like to be on the big screen. Finally what I dreamt of when I was a kid is happening in reality. And if you ask me about my acting skills, I’m an actor by birth,” said the champion, adding that he is a fitness freak and often train with Akshay Kumar whenever he is in Mumbai.

“I’m a fitness freak and I love working out, as it keeps my mind fresh. Whenever I’m in Mumbai, I train with Akshay Kumar. He is the ultimate fitness freak. He has the best body if we talk about all the actors in Bollywood. I have even worked out with Salman Khan a number of times. When I’m not practicing, I’m out on shoots. And if at all I get free, I love watching movies and listen to music. I love bikes and usually go on long rides,” said Vijender, who is a proud owner of a Harley-Davidson.

On being the poster boy of Indian boxing who is flooded with endorsement offers and other assignments the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna winner said that people love to see a performer on and off the field. “Jo dikhta hain vo bikta hain,” said Vijender, whose looks and fame has made him one of the most eligible bachelors in the country.

“I am quite aware of this tag attached to my name and I am being often asked this question about my marriage. But right now I’m focussing on my career and work. I’m in no hurry and mood to get married,” said the pugilist, who does not want stardom to overshadow his ambitions.

“I can never ignore my first love, boxing, for anything in the world including films. I will always be a boxer as it is boxing which has given me this fame. I think I can handle acting and modelling along with my sporting career quite smoothly,” he said.
