Here we bring to you the hits and flops of match played between Kolkata Knight Riders(KKR) and Kings XI Punjab(KXIP).
HITS
Jacques Kallis: Kallis was once again at his very best as he picked up two wickets and gave away just 14 runs in his four over. To make sure that KKR wins this match, he played an aggressive innings of 37 runs which was studded with six fours.
Manan Vohra: Vohra played brilliantly in the middle order as he scored 31 runs off 21 balls. He scored three fours and one six before handing over his wicket to Lakshmipathy Balaji.
Eoin Morgan: Morgan was once again at his peak as he came up with some performance with the bat. He scored 46 off just 26 balls and smashed three fours and four sixes in his innings. He lost his wicket to Azhar Mahmood but by that time KKR had already sealed a comprehensive victory.
Azhar Mahmood: Mahmood bowled brilliantly and ended up with a figure of 3/35. Though he was expensive, but he gave those much needed breakthrough in initial overs which kept KKR under some pressure.
Manvinder Bisla: Bisla showed some ruthless batting as he scored three fours and three sixes in his 51 run knock off 44 balls. He took his time to settle down and started playing his shots after that. He has surely earned one more chance but he needs to be more consistent with the bat.
Gurkeerat Singh: Gurkeerat played a huge role in taking the score from 120 to 149 as he scored 28 runs from just 15 balls. He scored two sixes in last over off Lakshmipathy Balaji, who was bowling short balls to him again and again.
FLOPS
Lakshmipathy Balaji: Balaji ended as the worst bowler of the match as he gave away 44 runs in his four over. Gautam Gambhir was extremely disappointed from his last over as put Punjab in driver's seat. Balaji should have used yorkers but he instead chosen length deliveries which cost him 20 runs.
Gautam Gambhir: Gambhir didn’t put up an impressive performance with the bat as he was bowled out in second over of the innings by Azhar Mahmood. He got out after scoring eight runs that came off two magnificent boundaries that he scored in first over.
Yusuf Pathan: Pathan’s poor run continued as he was dismissed for golden duck. He knicked the ball to the keeper and got out. He was also bit sloppy in the field and that did cost KKR few runs. He hasn’t scored a fifty for KKR till yet.
Piyush Chawla: Though Chawla bowled brilliantly he is in the list and it more because of his luck. Umpire turned down his appeal when he bowled a straighter one to Kallis which was crushing middle and leg stumps for sure and later on Morgan tried a reverse sweep and ball did hit the stumps but bails didn’t come out of the groove. On any other day, he could have go two to three wickets easily but because of luck, he ended up with the figures of 0/33.
