Bhuvneshwar, Shami: Finds of the series

kumar-shami2Apart from Virat Kohli, who returned to form with a 77 off 79 balls in Ranchi ODI, one thing that must be giving Mahendra Singh Dhoni a reason to smile is the bowling by his two new-comers – Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Shami Ahmed.  Exponents of swing bowling, both the youngsters have been bowling their heart out, and it have been their opening spells which have open the gates India’s victories against England in the last two ODIs.

Shami Ahmed bowled an awesome spell of swing bowling in Ranchi. After an expensive first over, he did really well to come-back and bowled some beautiful in-swingers to beat the out-side edge of English batsmen.

He stuck to outside the off-stump to right handers and off to middle line for left-handed batsman and he was rewarded with wickets for bowling so well. The best thing about Shammi is his pace of 135 plus with which he can swing the bowl both ways.

Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar continued to bowl his long spell in this series. For the second time, he bowled 10 overs at a stretch, which shows the fitness level of this young lad. Apart from bowling long spells, he very well know how to pick-up wickets to keep the pressure on oppositions.

Bhuvneshwar has already won the confidence of Mahendra Singh Dhoni and millions of heart by bowling intelligently in his short career of six ODIs.

While Bhuvneshwar moved the ball both ways in the air and off the seam, Shami bowled a tight line at brisk pace. May be its too early to say that Indian bowling is in safe hands, but one thing is for sure that both Bhuvneshwar and Shami has lived up to the expectation of the Indian Captain.

These young bowlers have over-shadowed an experienced bowler like Ishant Sharma, who has played 47 Tests for India. The recent home series have also raised questions on Ishant’s wicket-taking ability and he has to pull up his socks if he wants to compete with these youngsters for a place in the team.
