Anshh Taandon and Sanjay Pahal star as Gulf Giants and Desert Vipers reach ILT20 Development Tournament final

Dubai, September 24: Gulf Giants Development and Desert Vipers Development won their semi-finals at the ICC Academy in Dubai to reach the final of the fourth DP World ILT20 Development Tournament.

The final was scheduled for 7pm local time (8.30pm IST) on Thursday at the ICC Academy. In India, the tournament is streamed on FanCode.

Taandon’s 72 takes Giants through

Gulf Giants Development beat Abu Dhabi Knight Riders Development by six wickets, chasing 172 in 16.1 overs. Their innings had 13 sixes.

Anshh Taandon made 72 off 45 balls with three fours and six sixes and put on 89 for the first wicket with Tanish Suri (39 off 22). Sagar Kalyan finished it with 29 not out off nine balls.

Earlier, the Knight Riders made 171/8. Muhammad Aftab Alam hit 73 off 38 balls with six fours and four sixes, and openers Masood Gurbaz (31 off 16) and Uzair Haider Maan (32 off 26) got them off to a quick start. Haider Razzaq took 3 for 13 for the Giants.

Pahal’s four wickets sink Warriorz

In Wednesday evening’s semi-final, Desert Vipers Development beat Sharjah Warriorz Development by 25 runs. Batting first, the Vipers made 171/9. Harshit Kaushik (49 off 26) and Zeeshan Abid (41 off 21) added 75 in 36 balls after Vriitya Arvind’s 30 off 32.

The Warriorz, who led the semi-final line-up, got starts from Ronak Panoly (27), Harpreet Bhatia (33) and Basil Hameed (31) but lost seven wickets for 37 runs and finished on 146/9. Sanjay Pahal took 4 for 26 and Nilansh Keswani 2 for 10.

Leading performers

Desert Vipers’ Wali Muhammad Afridi is the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 14 from six innings, while Hilal Noor Afghan and Pahal have eight each. The Giants have two of the top three run-scorers: Kalyan with 241 runs at a strike rate of 191 and Taandon with 235 at 179.
