Shamim Patwari shines in BCB-U17 vs CAB-U17

Cox’s Bazaar: Scoring a double hundred, 15-year-old Shamim Patwari, who represents BCB-U17, was the hero of the 3rd match of four 3-day match series between BCB (Bangladesh Cricket Board)-U17 and CAB (Cricket Association of Bengal)-U17 at Cox’s Bazaar from October 16 to 18.

After the drawn first match and winning the 2nd match by an innings and 65 runs, BCB-U17 came on the 3rd match with positive mindset against CAB-U-17. After winning the toss, BCB-U17 sent the visitors for bat first. Due to regular fal of wickets, CAB-U17 were bowled out for 257 runs in the first hour of the second day of match. CAB-U17’s middle order batsman, Joshua Ben Ozukum (57) the highest scorer, while No.3 batsman Sayantan Manna scored 40 runs in that innings.

Left-arm slow orthodox Ishaq Ali took three wickets for the home team, also he contributed in two run outs, including Ozukum’s dismissal.

Later, Shamim Patwari played made a terrific knock of 226 runs off 286 balls, including 21 fours and 10 sixes. While other batsmen failed to capitalise despite some of their good starts, Patwari lasted nearly 400 minute. He made his hundred on 118 balls on day two, while he reached his double ton off 261 balls in the final day. Two slow left-arm orthodox bowlers, Tribrit Roy (6/121) and KaushikMaity (4/132) shared the 10 wickets in that innings for CAB. BCB-U17 was all out at 403 runs in the final day and took 146 runs lead over the visiting team.

In the 2nd innings, CAB-U17 signed off on the final day at 121-3 in 60 overs. Shamim Patwari also grabbed Sharnik Banerjee’s (47) wicket, who was the highest scorer of the innings and missed his half-century for just three runs. The match ended without any result.

Shamim Patwari was selected for the man of the match award for his outstanding innings.

The next and final match of this series will be held between these two teams from 20thOctober to 22nd October 2015 at Cox’s Bazar. BCB-U17 are ahead in this series by 1-0.
