Indian junior tennis team leaves for World Championship

New Delhi: A three member U-14 Indian tennis team under the guidance of coach Nar Singh will leave for Prostezov, Czech Republic tonight to compete in ITF World junior championship, beginning August 3.

Mahak Jain, Prinkle Singh and Shivani Ingle are part of the team that had qualified for the finals at the Asia Oceania regional leg, held in Bangkok, where they had finished fourth.

16 teams will be divided into four groups where teams will compete in Round-Robin format. The top team in each group will qualify for the semifinals.
Coach Nar Singh is hopeful that Indian girls will put up a good show. “My job will be to motivate the girls. They have been preparing well but a strategy has to be followed in team competitions. We did better than what was expected of us in Bangkok and I am sure, the girls will do well,” Nar Singh said.
