Glasgow Open: Peter Gilchrist wins warm-up event

Glasgow: The reigning world champion, Peter Gilchrist outclassed former world champion, Rupesh Shah with a victory margin of 399 points (688-289) in the 90 minutes final match of Glasgow Open. Gilchrist made breaks of 63, 68, 52, 180, 58, 106 and 82 whereas Shah managed only two breaks of 133 and 62 points.

Peter maintained his consistency throughout the warm-up event and had defeated 9 time world champion Pankaj Advani in the Semis and reigning Asian champion Sourav Kothari in quarters by a comfortable victory margin. He was also acknowledged for the tournament high break 474, that he made against Sourav Kothari in quarter-final match.

After the warm-up event, 'Glasgow Open', all eyes now on the World Team Billiards championship where five countries, Scotland, Ireland, India, England and Austria are contesting to win inaugural World Team Billiards Championship.

Indian has two teams represented by Sourav Kothari, Alok Kumar, Bhaskar Balachandra, Dhruv Sitwala as India A and Rupesh Shah, Pankaj Advani, Devendra Joshi, Ashok Shandilya as India B.

Final of World Team Billiards will be played on 14th August.
