CSK on top, Bangalore back to winning ways

Chennai Supers Kings once again came up with a brilliant show, both with the bat and ball in hand as they restricted their opposition Rajasthan Royals to 148 in 20 overs and reached the target easily with a couple of balls to spare.

Rajasthan Royals were going along nicely with their captain Shane Watson leading from the front by scoring a blistering half-century but that was all that Royals had in store as the second best scorer was Ankit Sharma who scored 30. Smith and Faulkner was not able to finish the innings in style and Dhoni and his men crawled back in the match by giving themselves a target of 149 runs to win, a target which was not big enough for a team such as CSK.

Brief Scores:

Rajasthan Royals 148 /8 (Shane Watson 51, Ankit Sharma 30, Mohit Sharma 3/31)

Chennai Super Kings: 149/5 (Smith 44, Plessis 38, Dhoni 26, Ankit Sharma 2/20)

There were some early hiccups for CSK as they lost Brendon McCullum in the third over but Smith carried on his good form with the bat by scoring 44 runs and Du Plessis gave him able support by scoring 38 runs. Although the match went down to the final over with CSK needing 12 runs to win, Royals never really had a chance of winning the match with Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the crease and he finished it off in style giving his team their 8th win which takes them to the top of the table.
