Odisha beat Puducherry 10-0 in Sub-junior Women National Championship (Division B)

New Delhi: Hockey Gangpur- Odisha claimed an easy win over Puducherry on the 7th day of 4th Hockey Sub- Junior Men National Championship (Division B) held at Haldwani, Uttarakhand alongwith Bihar, Mizoram, Punjab and Gujarat winning their respective matches today.
In a Pool C match, Hockey Gangpur- Odisha trounced Puducherry in an exciting clash with a goal margin of 10-0. Hockey Gangpur-Odisha was in its complete form and left the opponent empty handed without any goal score through the game. Opening the shower of goals, the first goal of the match came through Rojita Kujar as a field goal in the 5th minute of the game. Soon after, without killing much time, in the 14th minute of the game, Rinki Kujar successfully converted a penalty corner. Just when the first half of the game was about to close, Namrata Jasmin Bara stroked in a goal in the 29th minute of the game taking the lead to 3-0.

In the second half, maintaining its consistency in the play, Rinki Kujar pierced in a field goal for Hockey Gangpur- Odisha in the 47th minute. Adding to the goals further, Namrata Jasmin Bara, Premita Bara and Captain Asima Miza contributed three field goals in 49th, 53rd and 55th minute respectively. While, in the entire game, Puducherry did not get any chance to score, it was Rinki Kujar again who scored a field goal in 65th minute followed by two more goals in 66th and 68th minute of the game which came through the stick of Rahil Tirkey and Premita Bara, giving a well- deserved win for Hockey Gangpur- Odisha.

In another Pool C match, played between Goa and Bihar, the latter took over the former by a score of 5-0 on the board. The first half of the game saw only a single goal which was scored by Bihar’s Sampa Shivani in the 17th minute with a 0-1 score on board.

While the first half of the game yielded only one goal, the second half of the game went in the favour of Bihar as they did not allow the opponents to score even a single goal. A total of four goals were penetrated by Bihar out of which one goal came through a penalty corner. Juli Kujur opened the second half of the game with a field goal in 37th minute followed by Sampa Shivani who managed to strike in a goal in 41st minute taking the lead to 3-0. Within a span of just two minutes, another goal came from Kajal Lakra in 43rd minute. Bihar continued putting pressure on the opponents as Shwet Nisha made no mistake and converted a penalty corner in the 49th minute which helped the team register a comfortable win.

In a Pool D match, Mizoram edged past Jammu & Kashmir with a sweeping goal margin of 21-0. Mizoram dominated the entire game leaving the opponent goalless. Lalrinfeli opened the score card in the 13th minute followed by three goals in 29th, 32nd and 49th minute.

A huge number of nine goals were hit by Lalremsiami, in the 25th, 40th, 45th, 48th, 54th, 55th and 67th minute and helped Mizoram to take over the game in its support. Moving towards the end of the game, the winner was so obvious that it did not even spare the last minute of the game and scored a field goal which through the Captain F. Lalawmpuii in 70th minute, declaring an obvious win for Mizoram.

In another Pool D match, Manipur goes down to Punjab by 0-3 on the board. The first half of the game saw two goals in the favour of Punjab which came through the stick of the Captain Amrinder Kaur in the 18th minute and Amandeep Kaur in the 33rd minute leaving the score board to 2-0 in the first half of the game. In the other half of the game, both the teams had a tough fight but it was Punjab’s Amrinder Kaur who maintained her consistency and notched a winning goal in the 69th minute of the game.

In Pool A match between Gujarat showcased an outstanding performance and registered a glorious victory defeating Tripura 8-0. The team scored their first goal in the 8th minute itself which came from Riya Patel. Then followed another goal in the 15th minute which came from Maitry Ramwala and made the team even more confident leading to 4 goals in the first half of the game. The opponent team tried hard to start with their scores in the first half but failed to make entry to the scoreboard. The second half of the game was also taken over by Gujarat with another 4 excellent goals, out of which one of them was scored by the Captain Prachi Jha in the 56th minute. By converting a Penalty corner in the 44th minute, Dhruti Bhatia took the team ahead towards the win. Riya Patel and Maitry Ramwala contributed well to the team by scoring three goals and announcing their victory.
