Hockey India congratulates SK Uthappa for completing 50 international caps

New Delhi: Midfielder SK Uthappa completed his 50 international caps during India’s clash against England in the Rabobank Hockey World Cup 2014 at The Hague, Netherlands on Monday. SK Uthappa, who made his debut in 2012 against South Africa in the first match of the test series played at Major Dhyan Chand national Stadium in Delhi, had also scored a goal in his debut match. Since then the 20-year-old player from Karnataka has not looked back and represented India in many International tournaments.

Congratulating SK Uthappa, Dr. Narinder Batra, Secretary General, Hockey India said “I am happy and proud of SK Uthappa today. He has been an important player in the side since his debut 2 years back. I wish him all the luck for future and hope to see him perform and deliver for Team India for years to come”.

SK Uthappa has to his credit of representing the team at the Olympic Games in London in the same year that he made his debut. He also represented India at the FIH Olympic Qualifier 2012 in New Delhi, Sultan Azlan Shah Cup 2012 in Malaysia, Champions Trophy 2012 in Australia, Lanco Super Series 2012 in Australia, Asia Cup 2013 in Malaysia and Hero Hockey World League Final in New Delhi early this year.
