Samarjit wins gold medal Meeting of Shooting Hopes

New Delhi: Samarjit Singh won the gold medal in sports pistol junior men event on the last day of the competition at Meeting of Shooting Hopes. With this, Indian junior shooters won four individual gold medals in this championship.

Samarjit Singh shot 577/600. His precision stage score was 288 and in duelling stage, he shot 289, which was enough for him to win the gold medal. In the same event, the team of Samarjit Singh (577), Vishwajit Singh (563) and Neeraj Kumar (561) won the silver medal (aggregate 1712). The team gold medal was won by Poland with an aggregate score of 1712 and bronze medal by Switzerland with a total score of 1689.

Earlier, Shreya Gawande had won two individual gold medals in two pistol events.

Ranindper Singh, president expressed his happiness and said that these juniors were India’s future hope. He congratulated the medal winners and their coaches for their performance and hoped that they would keep this momentum in the forthcoming World Championship.
