Glasgow, Scotland: With 111 caps each, Rani and Danish Mujtaba are seasoned players and will be representing their respective teams for the second time in the Commonwealth Games and were all praise for their peers and teammates. Both Indian Men & Women teams are eyeing celebratory performance in the imminent 2014 Commonwealth Games, the players are looking at a united performance which will ensure them victory.
Where, Danish Mujtaba from the Men team’s midfield line-up lead by Captain Sardar Singh is making a comeback in the team and is looking forward to support the Captain, the Women Hockey team’s forward player, Rani on the other hand, has her full support in favour of her young teammate Ritusha Arya who is currently in her best form and at an all time high post her ‘highest goal scorer’ recognition in the Malaysian Tour.
Speaking on the preparations, Forward player Rani (Women) commenting on Ritusha Arya said, “Ritusha Arya with her 15 caps has proved to be a big threat to the defence of the opponent during our tour to Malaysia as well as the recent international matches that we have played. During our preparations here, she looks in form and will soon be seen in action again. Poonam Rani and I are happy with her in the team as she has complemented our play on the field since the day she has made her debut on the international arena”.
Speaking on his comeback, Midfielder Danish Mujtaba (Men) said, “With my comeback in the team, my focus will be to support Captain Sardar Singh in the midfield position and in the process to give the required balance to both the forward line-up as well as the defence position. Apart from Sardar Singh our midfield has the backing of names like Dharamvir Singh, Chinglensana Singh and Manpreet Singh and this I believe makes us a formidable line-up for the opponents. Also I believe that the faster we play, better chances will open up for the team.”
The Women Hockey Team will take on Canada on 24th July 2014 and the Men Hockey Team will clash with Wales on 25th July 2014, in their first match, in the 2014 Commonwealth Games at Glasgow (Scotland).
