Lucknow: Ecstatic to have won the first tournament after 15 months, India's ace shuttler Saina Nehwal said that she was happy to have kept her momentum going.
“Sindhu played very well today. I needed many improvement in myself and I am happy that I kept my momentum going,” said Siana, who beat PV Sindhu in the final of Syed Modi International Gold Prix Badminton Tournament on Sunday.
“I am happy with my fitness, and I wasn’t expecting an easy match against Sindhu, as we play together and know each others’ tactics very well. Staging a comeback in the winning-ways wasn’t easy. I gave my 100 percent today and I am happy to win my first title after a gap of 15 months,” said Saina.
Meanwhile Sindhu said that she committed many unforced errors. “That’s the reason why I lost in straight games. In Fact, I was leading in the second game, but couldn’t keep my momentum going. Saina is my senior and I had no certain plans against her before the start of the match,” she said.
Srikanth, who lost to China’s Xue Song in the men’s singles final said: “It was really disappointing. After winning the first game at ease, I wanted to continue my good run in the second too and I too had a good lead of seven points. But somehow I lost my rhythm and went on conceeding points after points.”
