Kolkata: Noida’s Simarjeet Singh seeded 17th, pulled out all his experience to win two matches against better players to enter the semifinals of the Tata Steel Eastern India Amateur Golf Championship being played at the Royal Calcutta Golf Club here on Friday. The former three-time Sri Lankan Open Amateur first ousted the top seed Samarth Dwivedi 2 & 1 and later beat Ankur Chadha 2&1 in the quarterfinal on a day when most of the seeded players bit the dust.
Ankur Chadha seeded 23rd had ousted eighth seed Manu Gandas 2-up in a second round tie while 12th seed Arjun Sharma first beat fifth seed Syed Saqib Ahmed 3 & 2 before showing fourth seed Gagan Verma the door with a 2 & 1 victory.
