New Delhi: Ojaswi Gupta made the city proud by winning a bronze medal in Karate under freestyle Kumite Female cadet 14 to 15 age group - 48 kg weight category at the World Fudukan Karate Championship 2013 held at Prague, Czech Republic from (28th November to 1st December) 2013. The only Indian acknowledged for display of grit and acrobatics on the floor outside India at a tender age of 14 and become a part of the league of extraordinary sportsmen across the nation.
Her sterling achievements have made the city proud. A student of 9th standard at Amity International School – Mayur Vihar, New Delhi, Ojaswi, who already has several national medals to her credit, has added another feather to her cap. She has been a gifted and energetic child right from the beginning. Observing her vivid nature and her inclination towards martial art her parents decided to admit her in a karate training academy mentored under her coach Sensei Jitesh Kumar.
Her feat is triumphed by sporting fraternity in India as karate has been evolving as an extra-curricular activity amongst the Generation Z, a long breakthrough after the success in World Karate championship held in 1984 when India got their first acclamation internationally.
Ojaswi hopes to continue training in martial arts, learning new form and techniques. She aspires to participate in national and international competitions on day to day basis. Winning medals and approbation for the country and her, further would like to be the torch bearer for the sport which is at the cusp of potential growth and popularity within the nation at large.
