Manpat, Das win gold in National Shooting Championship

New Delhi: Rakesh Manpat clinched the 50m Rifle Prone gold, while Mampi Das won the yellow metal in 10m Air Rifle event at the 57th National Shooting Championship being held the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Friday. Meanwhile, Anirudh Singh claimed the gold in Trap Shooting.


In men’s 50m Prone Rifle event, Rakesh Manpat of Karnataka defeated Olympians Gagan Narang and Joydeep Karmakar. Rakesh scored 207.9 in the finals for the top position while Joydeep Karmakar of Railways could only score 206.1 to win the silver, while Olympic medallist Gagan Narang had to be satisfied with the bronze with 183.6 points.


Army team of Sushil Ghale, Pankaj and Hariom won the gold medal of 50m Rifle Prone with 1844.3 points, while Uttar Pradesh team of Ishan Goel, Anubhav and Ajeet Kumar claimed the silver with 1836.6 points. Railway team, including Jaydeep, Partha Ghosh and Pankaj won the bronze medal with a score of 1830.7 points.


Meanwhile, Ishan Goel of Uttar Pradesh won the gold in 50m Rifle Prone Junior event with 614.8 score, while Navdeep Singh Rathore of Madhya Pradesh clinched the silver with 614.1 points. U.P. Shooter Daniyal Raza Zaidi claimed the bronze with 611.7 points.

In the finals of 10m Air Rifle women's event, Mampi Das shot 208.2 and bagged the gold medal. Maharashtra's Ghatkar Poooja Pandharinath shot 205.9 to win the silver, while Rajasthan's Apurvi Chandela won the bronze with 183.9 points.

Anirudh Singh of Uttar Pradesh became the new Champion in men’s trap shooting. He defeated Kynan Chenai of Andhra Pradesh in the finals. Anirudh shot 13/15 Clays to win the gold.
