Moradabad. Uttarakhand men beat defending champions Kerala 3-0 ( 25-22, 25-23, 25-21) to enter the final of 2nd Senior National Volleyball Championship here on Saturday.
The semi-final was ruled by towering Y. D Subba Rao as he roofed the net by massive blocks. Mandeep and Lalit smashed powerfully to spoil the hat-trick party of Kerala 25-22, 25-23, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu thrashed Services in the second semi-final 23-25, 25-18,25-22,25-17. The Services gripped first set as Pankaj and Sarath where exceptional in attacking. Tamil Nadu fought back is the second set where Naveen and Vaisnav displayed terrific spikes and blocks. In the third set, Services took early lead through hard smashing from Sarth and Pankaj whereas Shijas played brilliantly to finish the game.
Tamil Nadu fought back by Vaishnav’s blocking and Naveen’s attack to finish 23-25, 25-18,25-22,25-17.
Tamil Nadu will meet Uttarakand in the final.
In the women's section, holders Railways hammered Haryana 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-15). Railways captain Minimol and Smisha dictated the match set by anxious attack and were reinforced by Libero Priyanka in first pass and defence.
