English golfer Liz Young wins the Pro-Am of Hero Women’s Indian Open 2013

New Delhi: Liz Young of England, who is yet to win any major tournament so far made a great start by leading her team to a fine win in the Pro-Am of the Hero Women’s Indian Open 2013 today.

The 7th edition of the tournament which is tri-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour (LET), the Ladies Asian Golf Tour (LAGT) and the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) kick-started at the historic Delhi Golf Club for the first time, having moved from the traditional DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon. Young’s team included Manish Periwal, Arjun Mahajan and RS Sodhi.

Another English golfer, Felicity Johnson led her team comprising of Siddharth Shriram, Brijender Singh and Harinder Bansi to finish second. Neha Tripathi, who currently leads the Hero Order of Merit teamed up with Vikas Anand, Rahul Khanna and Shivam Khanna to finish third.

JS Sherawat won the "closest to the pin" contest in the men’s category, while Nimmi Dhir was the winner amongst the ladies.

HGS Dhaliwal won the longest drive contest in the men’s category with a drive of 277yards, while amongst the ladies Sifat Alag came out victorious with a drive of 222 yards.
