Bhaichung Bhutia joins young footballers at Nike Hypervenom India knockout

New Delhi:Nike on Sunday held the India final of the Hypervenom Knockout for young footballers to find the most deadly striker from over 400 young footballers in Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.

The 12 finalists were selected from over 400 young footballers in these three cities and put through extensive tests in a unique 1-on-1 format that tested their agility and speed to reach the finals held at the grounds of FCBEscola.

Nike athlete and Indian football legend Bhaichung Bhutia watched the Finals as Nirvair Nair was titled the ‘Most deadly striker’ of the Hypervenom India Knockout. Nirvair Nair was awarded the opportunity to be equipped with Nike gear for a year.

Speaking at the India finals, Bhaichung Bhutia said “The desire and promise that I saw in these young players was very encouraging; we need to have such tournaments frequently for these young footballers to continue growing and test themselves against the best in their age groups.”

The Hypervenom boot features a NIKESKIN upper that fits to the foot to aid touch and control. In a game that is always changing, the Nike Football design team created the boot with feedback from top players including Neymar, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who specifically need a boot that can help them create space quickly in and around the penalty area, and get their shot off from any angle.

During the development of the Hypervenom, players discussed the increased agility of opponents, referencing today’s best defenders who are now as quick, agile and skillful as many of the world’s best forwards.
