Kolkata: B Harshath consolidated his lead to 10 strokes at the end of the penultimate round of the National final of the Tata Steel IGU Sub-Junior Feeder Tour being played at the Tollygunj Club here on Thursday. The Bangalore lad shot a 77 in the third round for an aggregate of 230 to lead the pack in the top category (A & B).
Sohum Vij was second at 240 while Pramod Singh was third at 242. Ribhav Kapur was fourth at 249 while Shabeg Singh Kooner was fifth at 250.
Kshitij N Kaul with a two-day total of 148 was leading by a stroke over Sandeep Yadav in Category C. Aadil Bedi and Devansh Chadha were tied for the third place at 151. In the Category D which began today, Shubham Jaglan emerged as the leader with a card of 82 while Mandaar Prashar was second at 88. Vasundhara Thiara led in the girls category with a total of 87.
Harshath began on an ominous note making three bogeys in the first three holes before making a birdie on the fourth and played some steady golf until the last hole of his front nine where he again lost a stroke. On the back nine, Harshath after a bogey on the opening hole, made a birdie on the 11th before making a double on the next hole. A birdie on the 14th was the best he could do as he lost three shots in two holes (16th & 17th) to finish at 7-over for the day.
“Although I was hitting the ball really well, I just could not covert my putts else I could have saved at least four shots,” said the leader. “I am looking forward to win the tournament,” he added.
