Mahesh Mangaonkar in semi-finals of JSW Challenger Squash Circuit

Mumbai: Ending the days' play was a hard fought contest between Mahesh Mangaonkar and Valentino Bon Jovi Bong of Malaysia in which the Indian came out on top winning 3 games to 1. Mahesh seemed to be suffering from a lack of motivation initially and he seemed to overcome this by pushing himself to stay in the game longer. Not having started as aggressive as he usually is Mahesh was satisfied with the win and is looking forward to pushing on from this result. Mahesh Mangaonkar beat Valentino Bon Jovi Bong 11-7, 12-10, 8-11, 11-5.

In a surprise of the night, Malaysia's Sanjay Singh defeated third seed Kristian Frost Olesen of Denmark 3-2 (7-11, 11-9, 9-11, 11-5, 12-10) in a marathon 89 minute match. Singh whose highest PSA ranking was 155 defeated 63rd ranked Olesen in a closely fought delight. Commenting on his win, an ecstatic Sanjay said, ""It was a long game, long and brutal. It's not easy playing him. He's a fit player who likes to play long rallies. It wasn't easy finishing him off. All I had to do was make the rally long and hard, push him front, back, front, back, and stay mentally strong."

Top seed Egypt's Zahed Mohamed cruised into the semi-finals, with 3-0 (11-6, 11-9, 11-7) victory over Pakist,an's Muhammad Asim Khan, who failed to produce the magic from yesterday's five game match against Angus Gillams. Zahed, who was conscious of the pressure on him to perform, considering his status as the best male player going into the tournament was happy with his overall performance.

In the women's draw, a replay of the finals in Jaipur saw South Africa's Cheyna Tucker failing yet again against ace Egyptian Nouran El Torky, failing in four games, 11-3, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8. Disappointed at losing yet again to the young Egyptian, Tucker was confident she played a much stronger game and while upset with the loss was eager to take back the learnings from the two encounters with Nouran.

In the other two women's matches of the day, Jui Kalgutkar of India was eliminated from the tournament by Chloe Mesic of France in straight sets in a match that lasted lesser then twenty minutes( 11-4,11-6,11-3).Also, Laura Pomportes of France defeated Sameer Anjum of Pakistan 3-0 ( 11-3,11-3,11-4)
