Hyderabad: Though he became an inspiration by making a comeback in the T20 after fighting cancer, critics weren’t very sure about Yuvraj Singh’s success in the long form of the game, citing fitness as the reason. However, the fighter that he is, Yuvraj silenced one and all with his astonishing knock of 208 runs in the Duleep Trophy match on Monday that put North Zone in a commanding position against Central Zone.
Ecstatic about his stupendous performance that showed he is fit for any format, Yuvraj Singh said that his knock wasn’t to prove anyone wrong.
"I don't really think of what the critics say. If I did, I would not be able to concentrate on my game. I am not here to prove anyone wrong. I just do my job. I am only trying to get back into the groove. I just want to enjoy my game and have some fun in the middle," said Yuvraj, adding that he was happy that he batted for so long (333 minutes to be precise).
"I am very happy to get a double hundred. I feel happy about the way my body kept on going. I was enjoying my batting till the afternoon. I was tired at the end of the day's play on Sunday, which was understandable. I'm sure if we qualify for the final, I will have more time to bat and get better. I am sure the more I play, the fitter I will become," Yuvraj said, adding that he wasn’t thinking about the England series but was taking it one match at a time.
""At this point of time, I don't want to look too far ahead. For me, it is important that I take one match at a time. If I am fit enough and doing well, then it is not my call. I just want to go there, spend time at the crease and get my body fit for the four-day or five-day game.," said Yuvraj.
