I know the Master will do justice to his new role and wish MP Sachin all the success, says Dhoni

Baramulla: Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is all set to enter the Rajya Sabha and after his oath ceremony today in the chamber of chairman Hamid Ansari, Sachin would officially become an MP and would be the first active cricketer to be doing so.His decision to join Rajya Sabha might have received mixed reactions from all quarters with speculation rising as to whether Sachin can do justice to his new role, but Indian Mahendra singh Dhoni has no doubts about it and feels that Sachin would excel in politics as well.

“Rajya Sabha is a something new for him and I am sure that he will contribute there also and will do well," said Dhoni.

Before the big day, Dhoni wished Sachin luck.  “I wish him all the success. He has been contributing to Indian cricket and has been doing well in other fields as well,” he added.

Sachin who was nominated along with film actress Rekha and renowned business women Anu Aga in April this year by the Prime Minister could not take the oath in May along with other’s due to his IPL commitments.

Dhoni who is currently in Jammu and Kashmir said that sports could bring peace back to Valley.

"Not only cricket, but all sports can usher in peace in the Valley. There is a lot of cricketing talent in the Valley. The local cricket players need to come forward and hone their talent," Dhoni told reporters in Baramulla.

The Indian skipper as a part of his first trip to the Kashmir visited the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir's Baramulla district where he interacted with soldiers and local youth on Sunday. Dhoni has expressed his interest to serve Indian Army after he is done with his playing days.

Meanwhile with so much being talked about change of guards in the Indian Team, Dhoni said that Virender Sehwag, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir had enough potential to shoulder the captain's responsibilities, but if his opinion is taken into account then he would choose himself for the job.

“It is not in my hands. If you ask me, my choice would be me,” said the captain cool.
