Chennai: There are high chances of Pakistani presence in the next edition of Champions League Twenty20 (CLT20) after the Board of Cricket Control of India (BBCI) has made it clear after the working committee meeting of the BCCI here on Saturday that it would have no objection to a team from Pakistan being part of the tournament.
Sialkot Stallions were invited to play in the inaugural edition of the tournament which was scheduled to happen in the first edition of the tournament, but then things changed after the 26/11 Mumbai Terror attack and their participation was cancelled. Since then no team from across the country ever played in the tournament.
And now does should everything fall in place, Pakistan’s domestic champions Sialkot would play in this year’s tournament.
The tournament features top domestic clubs from all the major cricketing countries and is run by India, Australia and South Africa.
“The working committee has decided to invite a team from Pakistan to play in the tournament and we will recommend to the working committee that BCCI does not have any problem to it,” said N Srinivasan, the president of BCCI.
The CLT20 governing body is scheduled to happen on May 28.
