Slow, low and difficult pitch for batting, says Ganguly, Harbhajan

Pune: It was a low scoring thriller as Mumbai Indians beat Pune Warriors by one run in an IPL encounter here on Thursday. Pune lost their fourth successive match while Mumbai won second in a row that propelled them to third spot on the points table. Sourav Ganguly, though admitted that they should won the match, said that it wasn’t an easy wicket to bat on.

“Yes, we should have got to 120 but it wasn’t an easy wicket to bat on. The ball did not come on to the bat. We lost a few wickets early and when I got out, it was the turning point of the game,” said the Pune Warriors skipper.

Mumbai Indians batsman Dinesh Karthik too accepted that it was a two-paced wicket and scoring was always going to be difficult.

Meanwhile Harbhajan Singh said that the pitch was slow, low and it was difficult to play the strokes. “We did not expect the pitch to play this way. Bowlers would love to bowl here. Our bowlers did a great job. You got to be active and move fielders around in such situations,” said the Mumbai Indians captain.

Meanwhile Lasith Malinga, who won the man-of-the-match award said, “I am used to pressure. Whatever I do during the training session, I try to apply it on the field. I know my field and I bowl accordingly.”
