Kallis humbled by CSA’s gesture, will donate to Yuvraj Singh Foundation

Johannesburg: The legendary all-rounder Jacques Kallis, would soon be honoured at a special T20 international between India and South Africa at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on the 30th of March.

The philanthropic sportsman also announced that he would make a special donation to the Yuvraj Singh Foundation. Reportedly the all-rounder feels for our very own Yuvi and understands that he is going through a tough phase. Kallis said that he understands the whole situation better as he himself went through the same when his father got diagnosed with cancer and succumbed to it.

Gerald Majola, the Cricket South Africa (CSA) chief executive mentioned that this match is a follow-up to last year's successful T20 match at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban. He also added that agreement had been reached with the BCCI to make this an annual affair.

Majola added that after the successful inauguration match in January, they insist to make this a Jacques Kallis evening in which everybody could acknowledge his huge contribution to the Proteas and South African cricket generally not only as a player, role model but a mentor. The inauguration last year was quite a star studded event.

Kallis quite whole heartedly feels humbled by the gesture done and added that the CSA has indeed given him umpteen opportunities to make it large.

To get back to a bit of history, Kallis established the Jacques Kallis Scholarship Foundation in the year 2006, the purpose of the Foundation is to sponsor scholars from various backgrounds who show a promising talent in cricket.

The foundation pays for their tuition, room and board, living expenses as well as providing a central administration service and a high performance cricketing mentoring programme.
