Arumugam blows away PSB

New Delhi: A brace by Subramani Arumugam helped Army XI defeat Punjab and Sind Bank (PSB) 4-2 to win the 6th Oriental Bank Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament played here at the Dhyanchand Stadium on Saturday.



Arumugam scored his first goal in the 13th minute off a penalty corner and then followed it with a goal in the 37th minute. Other goal-scorers for Army were Sunil Ekka and E lakra.

Parminder Singh and Bikramjit scored for the PSB,but was not enough as the Armt team walked off with the winners cheque.

The winner collected Rs. 1,25,000 and the runner-up 75,000. The Executive Director of Oriental Bank of Commerce, Satish Chandra Sinha, was the chief guest and presented the prizes.

Army XI 4 (Subramani Arumugam 3, Eliazer Lakra 1) bt Punjab and Sind Bank 2 (Parminder Singh, Bikramjit Singh).
