New Delhi: Army XI beat Northern Railway 5-2 in the 6TH Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament being held at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi on Saturday.

The Railwaymen took the lead in the 12th minute when Prem beat the rivals’ defence for a field goal and the Armymen came in for another shock just four minutes later when Harish made it 2-0 for the Northern Railway. But thereafter, Army XI started taking control of the game and in the very next minute made it 1-2 through Jerom Kujur and in the 30th minute Arumugum leveled it for his team by converting a penalty corner.

The Armymen started the second half in an aggressive note and in the 48th minute, E Lakra made it 3-2. Army XI were awarded a penalty stroke in the 51st minute and Arumugum made no mistake to score his second goal of the day, making it 4-2. Two minutes later, Arumugum score his third goal to seal a comprehensive victory (5-2) for the Army XI.
