New Delhi: CRPF got the better of Indian Navy 4-3 in the 6th Maharaja Ranjit Singh Hockey Tournament, which started at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium here on Friday.
Surender Singh gave CRPF the lead in the fourth minute by scoring a field goal, but Ved Prakash made it 1-1 nine minutes later. But CRPF soon made it 2-1 through a field goal scored by Simon Tirkey.
The lead was extended to 3-1 by Mandeer Singh in the 41st minute but three minutes later, Ved Prakash struck again for Indian Navy to narrow the gap to 2-3. The game took an exciting turn, as Surender Kumar equallised the score for Indian Navy 3-3 by converting a penalty corner in the 51st minute, but Simon Tirkey came up for the rescue of his team as he scored his second goal in the 66th minute to give CRPF a 4-3 win.
